Welcome to Confinement Mothers. Postpartum recovery is just as important as pregnancy itself. Our traditional Malaysian confinement meals are designed to help new mothers heal, regain strength, and support milk production. Using recipes passed down through three generations, we carefully prepare each dish with Traditional Chinese Herbs known to boost circulation, restore warmth, and nourish the body.

About
Us

In Malaysian culture, food plays a central role, especially during confinement. Our traditions combine Malay, Chinese, and Indian influences, using ingredients like ginger, turmeric, and lemongrass. Ginger helps with digestion, turmeric boosts healing, and lemongrass reduces swelling.

At Confinement Mothers, our lead chef is our very own aunty, who has been cooking confinement food for pregnant mothers in Ipoh, Perak, for over 30 years. Now, she brings her expertise to Perth, preparing every meal with care in our licensed commercial kitchen in Subiaco.

We focus on providing wholesome meals that are low in oil, low in salt, and contain no added MSG or preservatives—just nourishing, homemade food to support your recovery.

Why Confinement Matters

Herbs like dang gui, red dates, and fenugreek are used to promote healthy milk flow, calm the nervous system, and reduce the risk of postnatal anxiety or “baby blues.”

The body is seen as highly vulnerable to cold after birth. Foods and practices during confinement are designed to keep the body warm, avoid illness, joint pain, or future “cold” conditions like fatigue, arthritis, or menstrual issues.

Postpartum is a chance to rebuild gut strength with easy-to-digest, warming foods. TCM says this supports the spleen and stomach, which are central to energy and immunity.

Childbirth is believed to weaken a woman’s Qi and blood. Confinement helps restore balance, rebuild energy, and nourish blood to regain strength.

Recovery & Lactation Boosters

Want a little something extra? Our Boosters are specially curated to support your recovery — from milk-boosting soups to nourishing sides that warm the body and replenish energy. Whether you’re after more variety, stronger healing, or just an extra comfort during confinement, these add-ons are cooked fresh daily and made to complement your meal plan perfectly. Customise your journey with what your body needs, when you need it.
